Notes from the instructors

  • Amlaku Eshetie, Amharic: "Are you interested in enrolling for Elementary Amharic II (AFRICAM 18B) this Spring Semester and are worried that you did not take the prerequisite course Elementary Amharic I (AFRICAM 18A)? Contact the instructor (at be.amlaku@berkeley.edu), and he will assess your language level to determine whether you can enrol now or you have to wait for the Fall Semester."
  • David Kyeu, Swahili: "In light of the ongoing global rhetoric against the queer community, are you interested in learning a popular African language whose gender-neutral pronoun "yeye" promotes inclusivity? This Spring, Swahili courses—Elementary (Africam 11B), Intermediate (Africam 10B), and Advanced (Africam 15B)—will be offered through the UC Berkeley Department of African American Studies. For a detailed brochure or further inquiries, please contact Dr. David Kyeu."
