FLAS - Academic Year
2014-2015 academic year: The Center for African Studies will offer FLAS fellowships in Arabic, Chichewa, Swahili, and Wolof. Awards will NOT be made in other African languages or any European languages. Applicants, particularly for Arabic, should demonstrate a commitment to an African Studies perspective in their research and training. Applicants seeking advanced language training and from professional schools are encouraged as are STEM students. Undergraduate students at the intermediate and advanced levels of language study with exceptional academic achievement who can demonstrate intent to pursue graduate studies may also apply. Applicants for dissertation research abroad are given the lowest priority. There will be a MANDATORY orientation for all Academic Year Fellows during the first week of the Fall 2014 semester (August 18-22). Please plan accordingly. Prospective applicants are advised to consult with Center for African Studies staff for additional information. Undergraduate applicants MUST consult with CAS for their applications to be accepted.
